What is a thriller?

A thriller is a type of film genre. The genre typically uses a mixture of suspense, excitement and anticipation to keep the viewer on the edge of their seats uncertain of how the story will pan out but eager to find out.

The protagonist is most usually an unsuspecting victim of sorts who does not realise the adventure, mystery or terror they are about to endure. They are usually given some sort of an escape to master, a mission to complete or a mystery to solve all of which usually involve hardship, danger, confusion and overall uncertainty of the character this makes the viewer eager to see the fate of the character that they form a bond with throughout his adventure.
