Best thriller actors of all time? - Number 3 - Grace Kelly

Grace Patricia Kelly was born on the 12th of November 1929 in Pennsylvania, USA. And unfortunately died on the 14th of September 1982 in Monaco, caused by a stroke and resulting car crash, RIP. As famous as she was a Hollywood actor, Kelly is also renowned for being the Princess of Monaco and being married to Prince Rainier 3rd.  However the audience was captivated during her short time as an actress due to her gorgeous looks, feminine charm and general Femme Fatale traits. She won a Golden Globe and Academy award in only around 6 years of filming as at 26 she retired from being an actress to focus on her roles as a Princess. She had both American and Monegasque citizenships, and was also in 1999 The American Film Institute awarded her as the 13th best female actress of all time.

Many of Kelly’s films are thrillers (and many directed by the great Alfred Hitchcock) here are a few:

  • Fourteen Hours (1951) - An unhappy man threatens suicide by standing on the ledge of a high-rise building for 14 hours. Grace Kelly plays a very minor role as Mrs Louise Ann Fuller.
  • Dial M for Murder (1954) - An ex-tennis pro creates a plan to kill his wife, but when it goes wrong he has to improvise a plan B. Kelly plays the wife.
  • Rear Window (1954) - Where a disabled man spies on his neighbours and reveals a possible dark secret about them. Kelly plays the wife of the murderous man.
  • To Catch a Thief (1955) - A reformed jewel thief is suspected of returning to his dark past and must prove his innocence. Kelly plays as Frances Stevens.
