The Spy Thriller sub-genre as specific as it sounds is
actually very popular in the vast thriller empire. It typically sees a British
secret service agent or similar government agent that must take violent action
against an organisation in order to save and protect his own or country.
The protagonist must face shootouts, investigations, espionage, car chases and overall action in order to save himself and country. Due to this very fast, action packed type of movie there is often a very thin line in considering a spy movie as a thriller or action movie. For example James Bond is very much considered to be in the action genre.
