Best thriller actors of all time? - Number 2 - Christian Bale


Christian Charles Phillip Bale was born on the 30th of January 1974. Bale first stared in a big blockbuster movie called Empire of the Sun (1987) at only 13 years of age. He was born in Wales but since his father was a commercial pilot he lived at a lot of places as a child. In 2000, he garnered critical acclaim for his portrayal of serial killer Patrick Bateman in American Psycho. He has also earned a reputation as a method actor after he lost 63 pounds to play the role of Trevor Reznik in The Machinist (2004). This has proved his dedication to the role and it shows in the final outcome of his movies. Bales traits include: he often portrays obsessive and detached or loner characters, Often stars in period films or plays historical figures, He has a fluent American accent and gets so involved in the character that even off set he continues to act like them.

Christian Bale has appeared in many thrillers some as support actors and some as lead:

  • The Secret Agent (1996) - A Russian agent must prove his worth to the government, Bale plays as Stevie.
  • All the Little Animals (1998) - Bobby (Bale) runs away from his evil father and meets a strange old man who buries road kill, but his dark past soon comes back to haunt him.
  • Shaft (2000) - A police detective must force justice upon the son of a real-estate tycoon who has racially murdered someone. Christian Bale plays Walter Wade, Jr.
  • The Machinist (2004) - An industrial worker (Bale) who hasn't slept in a year begins to doubt his own sanity.
  • The Dark Knight trilogy (2005 - 2012) Bale plays as Bruce Wayne an American billionaire who must keep his secret of being a superhero.

Bale has won an Oscar, Academy Award, A Golden Globe and many other wins and nominations.
